At Accentuate Speech the client is taught the appropriate speech modification techniques, as well as the basic sounds and principles of American English.  The client learns to discriminate between different speech sounds, with special emphasis placed on:

·         Pronunciation

·         Complete word production

·         Voice projection

Accentuate Speech provides practice materials developed by Compton P-ESL (Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language), a nationally recognized leader in accent modification, in various formats to suit client needs.

An initial speech analysis will be conducted to determine the sounds that will be worked on, over the course of the 12 sessions.  Each week the client is encouraged to bring in a list of words that he or she wants to learn to pronounce.  The instructor will record the correct pronunciation of these words on the client’s audio-reference tape.

Carryover assignments are given according to the sounds the client needs to focus on.  The client is encouraged to set aside one hour a day for practicing.  This is an extremely important practice to implement to ensure success of the program.
