It takes hard work and dedication to modify a foreign or regional accent. It cannot be done in the classroom alone.  To achieve the greatest improvement possible, the client must practice outside of class using the Compton P-ESL accent modification training materials. These materials include a practice workbook, and cassette tapes or a CD-ROM.

Assistance with delivery of business specific presentations is also offered.

Workshops are conducted over 12 sessions. 

Alternative Workshops:

*7 sessions - for mild or regional dialects

*3 sessions - intensive course  

Each client is required to participate in a Pre-Workshop Speech Analysis, which takes approximately 45-60 minutes.  During the analysis the client is asked to record single words and connected speech.  After the recording is completed, we listen carefully to your speech sounds and transcribe them into phonetic symbols.  Next, we compare your pronunciation with those of standard American English.  When this comparison is finished, we can see exactly how your pronunciation patterns differ from standard English.

The workshops can be tailored to individuals or for groups up to 5 individuals (speakers whose native languages differ from each other can be trained in the same group).

12 Session Training Program

The Accentuate Speech 12 session training program covers 19 specific speech sounds and pronunciation patterns in your accented speech. Each session includes listening and speaking exercises modeled by the trainer, which clients also continue to practice at home between sessions with recorded materials to acquire new skills.
